I agree with your assessment that traditional marriage, the Ozzie and Harriet variety, is broken. I’ve held the belief for more than a few years that “til death do us part,” may have worked when people died of natural causes in their late fifties or early sixties; but not now.If one buys-in to the concept that traditional marriage is broken, then does it follow that traditional divorce is also broken. If it’s time to change the “traditional marriage” isn’t there a better way to create a different partnership without the emotional pain and expense of a traditional divorce. Our kids are grown. We each know what we want in a relationship but are beginning to realize that we won’t find it in each other. Sticking it out is not an alternative and neither is ignoring the history of friendship, lover, sex and good memories – its not as simple as “Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover.” How do you unwind a traditional marriage/relationship untraditionally?
Would love your thoughts – am just getting into your book, looks like a great read.
